Come to the Water: Teaching California Black History, Saturday, 1/28 @ 11AM

Jazz started in San Francisco. Find out why and how during the third session of Come to the Water: Teaching California Black History.

Come join Oxford University Press historian John William Templeton as he leads the seventh annual Come to the Water: Teaching California Black History seven-week course. The author of Our Roots Run Deep: The Black Experience in California, Vols.1-4, Templeton is the creator of the West's first African American Freedom Trail. 
 

The next session of the course is Saturday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. in the ReUNION: Education-Arts-Heritage offices at 1691 Turk.
 
The books for the seven week course are: 
Our Roots Run Deep: the Black Experience in California, Vols. 1-4 
Come to the Water: Sharing the Rich Black Experience in San Francisco 
Cakewalk: a historical novel about the unsung creators of jazz
